For Peak District-based photographer Harry Renton, photography is more than capturing beautiful images. It’s a way to connect with the everyday. From documenting life in the hills to quiet moments on the streets, Harry’s lens reflects his deep connection to nature, his respect for craft, and his belief in mindful living.
In his latest series, Harry turned his focus to Yarmouth Oilskins. Against the rugged landscapes of the Peak District, he explored how thoughtfully made garments can accompany us through life’s adventures, both big and small.
Harry’s work celebrates the moments we often take for granted: the texture of wool against a cold breeze, the weight of a sturdy jacket as you step outside, or the simple joy of wearing something built to last. In these images, Yarmouth Oilskins’ garments become part of those moments, seamlessly blending into the narrative of everyday life.
One standout piece was the Industry Jumper, a submariner sweater reimagined from our 1900 catalogue. Its deep navy wool felt at home under the moody skies of the Peaks, with hand-embroidered lettering offering a tangible connection to its heritage. Paired with the Champion Jacket, it provided warmth and protection for a day spent exploring, embodying the perfect balance of practicality and style.
The series also featured the Slicker Jacket, with dry wax finish as practical as it is striking, and the timeless Shawl Collar Smock, a piece that speaks to Yarmouth Oilskins’ coastal roots. Harry’s selection of garments for this shoot seamlessly balance practicality and timeless design. Created with durability and purpose in mind, they feel perfectly suited to the landscapes they’re inspired by.
The series also featured the Slicker Jacket, its dry wax finish as functional as it is striking, and the Shawl Collar Smock, a timeless nod to Yarmouth Oilskins’ coastal origins. Each garment in Harry’s selection was designed with durability and purpose, perfectly suited to the landscapes that inspired them.
Sustainability sits at the heart of Harry’s photography. “I focus closely on sustainability and the use of natural, long-lasting materials in clothing. As a photographer, I wish to inspire those who love the outdoors to also care for it and respect it, being mindful about where and what they buy."
This ethos is woven into every Yarmouth Oilskins piece, from rugged smocks to heritage knits. Created with intention, these are clothes designed to be worn and loved for years, reflecting a slower, more thoughtful way of living.
Harry’s photo story gently reminds us to pause and find joy in the everyday. It’s a celebration of nature, craftsmanship, and the small moments that stay with us long after they’ve passed.
