Debatably the only belt you need in your wardrobe. This belt, in our eyes is very special and the perfect example of sustainability. It is made using vintage bark tanned hides from J&FJ Baker, Britain's last remaining Bark Tannery. The belts made for us by our friends at Tanner Bates, a small team of artisan leather workers.

Like everything worth owning, these belts take a little wearing in but will age and patina beautifully. Each belt is slightly different and is perfectly imperfect as they are made from deadstock hides that did not meet the exacting standards of the world most leather goods brands.

 

Several years ago we were lucky enough to visit J&FJ Baker, the most interesting tannery imaginable. What struck us though was the abundance of vintage hides stacked around, they were crying out to be put to use. Fast forward a few years and by chance Tanner Bates made contact and were indeed making use of those hides - it was meant to be!

The hides are hand-dyed a very dark brown, waxy and smell strongly of leather – truly old-fashioned and labour intensive.

Your belt will benefit from and will look its very best if given an occasional dose of natural waxes and oils. A Leather care information card is included.
